Although last Friday didn’t seem like the perfect day to take a cruise on the Hudson River, we refused to let the rain dampen our spirits. As soon as the thunderstorm passed we headed out of the south dock on West Point for a river cruise on the USMA ferry boat, hosted by the Greater Hudson Heritage Network. The breathtaking views past Constitution Island, Bannerman’s Island and into Newburgh Bay and back, made it very easy to forget about the weather and soak in all of the natural beauty that the Hudson Valley has to offer. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the trip then to have been able to witness the incredible sunset that followed the storm. I had never seen anything like it before; it is an image I will surely never forget. Nothing beats getting out on the Hudson in the summer time, no matter what the weather!
