Westchester has been home to one of the richest musical legacies in America, as generations of composers found inspiration and solace here.
The Music from Copland House ensemble starts their new residency at the Emelin Theater with an eclectic, entertaining program journeys across 100 years of music by Westchester natives and transplants. Music ranging widely from romanticism to modernism to wild romps that embraces the sounds of vibrant folk songs, British fifes, and languid ballads. The concert features music from a trio of Pulitzer Prize winners (Aaron Copland, Joan Tower, and Samuel Barber), Old and New World masters (Charles Tomlinson Griffes and Pierre Jalbert) and one genuine, undefinable maverick (Percy Grainger). You won’t “hear” Westchester in quite the same way!
Ticket holders are invited to a post-performance ‘OFFBEAT/ONSTAGE’ talk with the artists.
The Emelin Theater is committed to the safety and well-being of all our patrons. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and masks are required for all attendees.
