Author Talk: Richard Lacayo, “Last Light: How Six Great Artists Made Old Age a Time of Triumph”

July 16, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Come here Richard Lacayo,–one of the nation’s top art critics– talk about his new book ‘Last Light” (Simon & Schuster, Nov. 2022). Here, he details how 6 great artists  — Titian, Goya, Monet, Matisse, Nevelson and Edward Hopper — made old age a time of triumph by producing some of the greatest work of their long careers—and, in some cases, changing the course of art history. Though these artists differed in many respects, they shared one thing: a determination to go on creating, driven not by the bounding energies of youth but by the ticking clock that would inspire them to produce some of their greatest masterpieces.
Lecture: FREE
Book: $35.00 plus tax
Registrants are invited to visit Edward Hopper House Museum and the exhibition Ellsworth Kelly: “State of the River” following the lecture between 3-5pm.
