Emmy Award winner, BENISE, “The Prince of Spanish Guitar,” is currently releasing his 5th PBS Special, “Strings of Hope” and celebrates 20 years of taking audiences on a musical journey through Spanish Flamenco, Cuban Salsa, Brazilian Samba, Parisian Waltz, exotic drumming, and more!
“I’m always inspired by places I’ve traveled,” says BENISE, “so I’ll try to capture the essence and beauty of the different places in my melodies. It’s truly like painting on air–creating colors and lush soundscapes that take people (and me) away to a safe place with no prejudice and no boundaries. Rarely is an artist capable of touching the hearts and souls of people of all ages, cultures, and diverse musical backgrounds as BENISE. BENISE is an artist that has evolved the magnificent tradition of Nuevo Flamenco/Spanish guitar, while combining the elements of dance, theatre and Cirque, to create a totally unique style of musical & visual entertainment at a concert event.
His show includes uniquely talented musicians, Flamenco dancers, Brazilian Samba dancers and Cirque performers. An amazing concert artist, BENISE holds audiences captive with exotic drums, Gypsy violin, Brazilian percussionists, African tribal drummers, Havana horns, and brilliant theatrical lighting to create an unforgettable experience. He has released 13 albums, plus 5 DVDs. The recordings capture the expressive Spanish guitar arrangements that stem from influences around the world, carrying listeners to such culturally rich destinations as Spain, Africa, Brazil, the Mediterranean, Cuba, India and Egypt. Benise says. “With this current PBS show and upcoming concerts, I want to take the audience on an escape… to a beautiful Spanish courtyard filled with Flamenco dancers, stunning costumes, and fiery Spanish guitars.”
