DRAWING LESSONS: HOPPER’S “ARTIST’S STUDIO” Gallery Talk
March 22, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join Edward Hopper House Director Kathleen Motes Bennewitz, also co-curator
of “Edward Hopper’s Hudson River Boyhood and Emerging Artistic Vision” (on
view until March 26th), in the galleries to explore Hopper’s pen and ink
drawing, “Artists Studio” (Whitney Museum of American Art). Learn how this
studio image, which Hopper created around 1900 when he was at age 18 years
old, connects to artists before him as a glorification of the art of
drawing and how it also serves as a statement on Hopper’s own artistic
self-consciousness and practical training at this important juncture of his
emerging career Click here for more info.
