EO

May 10, 2023 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

EO
Directed by Jerzy Skolimowski
With Sandra Drzymalska, Lorenzo Zurzolo, Mateusz Kosciukiewicz and Isabelle
Huppert
2022, Poland, 88 min., in Polish, Italian, English and French with English
Subtitles
After being removed from the traveling circus, which is the only life he’s
ever known, EO begins a trek across the Polish and Italian countryside,
experiencing cruelty and kindness in equal measure, all the while observing
the follies and triumphs of humankind. During his travels, EO is both
helped and hindered by a cast of characters including a young Italian
priest (Lorenzo Zurzolo), a Countess (Isabelle Huppert), and a rowdy Polish
soccer team. EO puts the viewer in the heart and mind of its four-legged
protagonist. Tickets: $13, $11, $9.

THE NEW YORK TIMES, Manohla Dargis
“THE #1 FILM OF THE YEAR. Remarkable…no movie that I’ve seen this year has
moved me as deeply, made me feel as optimistic about cinema or engaged me
with such intellectual vigor.”
ARTFORUM, Amy Taubin
“One of the greatest films I’ve ever seen. Skolimowski has made a film that
in its delicacy and grandeur is in a class by itself.”
TIME, Stephanie Zacharek
“There is no more beautiful-looking film this year…EO may be one of the
greatest movies ever made about the spirit of animals, as much as we can
know it.”
LOS ANGELES TIMES, Justin Chang
“Brilliant…this could be the year’s most breathtakingly beautiful movie.”
NPR’s Fresh Air, John Powers
“EO is a thrillingly imaginative piece of filmmaking. The film is so brash,
freewheeling and inventive that, if I didn’t know Skolimowski had made it,
I’d have assumed it was the work of a brilliant 25 year old discovering
what they – and the movies – can do.”
THE GLOBE AND MAIL, C.J. Prince
“Downright exhilarating. A staggering piece of bravura filmmaking.”
