Roost Restaurant is happy to invite you to the September Jazz Lounge at Union Arts Center! Presented by Mz. Valentine, September’s Jazz Lounge supper club will showcase Albert Ahlf & The Alphabet Swing Band.
The Ahlfabet Swing Band, a popular swing jazz group in the New York metropolitan area, is pleased to announce their new season of live shows. They specializes in 30s and 40s style jazz, with a focus on the swing music of Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Sidney Bechet, Jimmie Lunceford, Coleman Hawkins, and Count Basie. The band also plays songs from the Great American Songbook that have been covered by crooners such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
The band is led by Albert Ahlf, who writes most of the arrangements. Ahlf is known for his “condensed big band sound,” which utilizes two to three horns with a rhythm section. The band also features talented musicians such as .
The Ahlfabet Swing Band has played at numerous venues throughout the region, including Maureen’s Jazz Cellar, Casa del Sol in Nyack, Bean Runner Cafe in Peekskill, The View in Piermont, the Rockland Conservatory of Music in Pearl River, and the Edward Hopper House for their annual fundraiser and summer jazz series. The band was also featured in Hot House Magazine in 2022.
