Nyack – Nyack Beach State Park
Listed as a Registered National Natural Historical Landmark, Nyack Beach State Park is a 61-acre state park at the base of Hook Mountain in Upper Nyack.
Enter from the northern end of North Broadway to a small parking lot. The river-centric pathway, with views of the Mario Cuomo Bridge and Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow across the way, spans the first section of the Hudson River Greenway and is known as one of the best sites in the country for hawk and raptor watching.
In addition to hiking and cycling, you can picnic, fish (with permit), launch your carry-in vessel from the (non-swimming) beach, or cross-country ski in winter.
Pets must be leashed, but are not allowed in the Upper Plateau area. There are seasonal parking fees on weekends so check for more information and hours.
As part of the 2023 "Find Your Path" program, Historic Historic Hudson River Towns has partnered with Nyack's Long Path Outfitters to present Discover Nyack State Park Beach Day. On Saturday, September 30, at 8:15am, a complimentary guided hike with West Mountain Guide Co. will introduce visitors to this gem along the Hudson River shoreline in Upper Nyack. Participation is limited and advance registration and waiver is required. Raindate Sunday, Oct. 1.
